A PRAYER TO ALMIGHTY GOD~
and
A PETITION TO CATOOSA COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT DENIA REESE and SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS:
We~ the undersigned~ express our dismay and outrage~ that the Catoosa County School Superintendent Denia Reese
although claiming to be Christian herself~ has wrongly interpreted the First Amendment to ban student-initiated free speech~
by censoring the Cheerleaders who had often displayed Bible verses on banners encouraging their football team~
but now are suddenly forbidden to exercise their First Amendment right to speak or display their own words on the field~
when the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals specifically ruled to protect student-initiated religious speech~ even on school grounds~
in their 1999 Chandler vs. James case~ which governs Georgia case law.
Please reverse your ban~ and restore the rights of Cheerleaders and any student groups to speak of their faith in Jesus Christ~
anywhere they walk on school grounds~ without confining them to a "free speech zone" or an "illegal speech zone."
The Bible is not a banned book~ Jesus is not an illegal word~ and evangelistic speech is not a crime.
We pray in Jesus’ name~ Amen.
