Veterans Administration Tries to Censor Jesus Prayers

Multiple news reports above confirm the U.S. Veterans Administration~ led by Secretary Eric K. Shinseki~ has tried to stop pastors or chaplains from praying "in Jesus name" at Memorial Day Ceremonies or VA Hospitals.  The latest case involves Pastor Scott Rainey in Houston Texas~ who was censored from praying "in Jesus name~" but won a court-order rebuking the V.A. and restoring his free speech rights.  Federal Judge Lynn Hughes ordered the V.A. and Arleen Ocasio~ director of the Houston National Cemetery~ to stop censoring the pastor’s right to pray "in Jesus name" at Monday’s Ceremony.

The Judge’s order states that "The government cannot gag citizens when it says it is in the interest of national security~ and it cannot do it in some bureaucrat’s notion of cultural homogeneity.  The right to free expression ranges from the dignity of Abraham Lincoln’s speeches to Charlie Sheen’s rants."

Christian Post reports that a month ago~ the cemetery asked Rainey to submit a copy of his prayer for review. Cemetery director Arleen Ocasio told Rainey in an e-mail last week that he needed to edit his prayer. Rainey was also told on Wednesday that he if he didn’t remove the Jesus reference then the prayer wouldn’t be allowed.

Liberty Institute then filed the suit and motion for a temporary restraining order on behalf of Rainey on Thursday.

"Arleen Ocasio~ the United States Department of Veteran Affairs~ and all those in concert with them are forbidden from dictating the content of speeches – whether those speeches are denominational prayers or otherwise – at the Memorial Day ceremony of National Cemetery Council for Greater Houston~" Hughes wrote in his order.

A PRAYER TO ALMIGHTY GOD~
and
A PETITION TO VETERANS ADMINISTRATION SECRETARY ERIC K. SHINSEKI
:

Dear Sirs:

We the undersigned respectfully petition you to write a letter to all V.A. Hospitals and Cemetery Directors nationwide directing them to enforce the court-order issued by Judge Lynn Hughes~ or ordered the V.A. to stop censoring pastors or chaplains right to pray "in Jesus name" at public ceremonies.  Recently Houston Cemetery director Arleen Ocasio tried to censor and stop Pastor Scott Rainey from praying "in Jesus name~" but the judge agreed the Veterans Administration violated the law~ the Constitution~ and the free speech rights of the Pastor.

We hold Secretary Eric K. Shinseki personally responsible for enforcing the judge’s ruling nationwide~ and directing all V.A. employees to stop any anti-Christian censorship of our free speech rights.  Our Veterans of all diverse religions have fought and many have died for every American’s right to freely express his or her religion~ especially during public prayer.  The court agrees you dishonor the Constitution we fought to defend~ when you try to stop chaplains or pastors of any religion from praying freely~ aloud~ according to their conscience.

Please write a policy letter to all directors~ enforcing nationwide what the court has ordered in Houston.  We pray in Jesus’ name~ Amen.

Add your "Amen" by signing below~ and WE WILL POST YOUR COMMENTS to the V.A. Secretary immediately.
