Let us pray. Almighty God, we are grieved that North Carolina’s Kannapolis City Council has voted to cease open prayer before its public meetings due to opposition from the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation. You promised to us, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:10). We pray that you would empower Christians holding public office to endure persecution from liberal, humanist groups that seek to silence any public expression of Christian beliefs, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
