Military Chaplains Being Stripped of Religious Freedoms

Let us pray. Almighty God, we are grieved that Christian chaplains in the U.S. military are having their religious liberties stripped from them by the nation they serve. Your Word says in Acts 2:47 that the church at Pentecost was “enjoying the favor of all the people.” We pray that you will grant favor to the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, who has written a letter to the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee with the goal of restoring these fundamental religious freedoms to our U.S. Military chaplains, especially their freedom of conscience to object to homosexual ‘marriage,’ in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let us pray. Almighty God, although we are sad that the prayers of your people continue to be silenced in our public schools, we are encouraged that 100 young Christian students in Alabama rallied to bring prayer back into their schools and school activities. We pray that You would continue to burden the hearts of young people around the nation to “pray continually” (1 Thess 5:17). Give them the courage to pray at school, at home, on the playground, before their sporting events, and everywhere they go, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Almighty God, we thank you that the Mississippi legislature is on the verge of shutting down its last remaining abortion clinic, which would make it the first abortion-clinic-free state in the U.S. Jesus said he has “come so that we may have life and have it to the full,” and we thank you that the United States will soon become a pro-life nation once again (John 10:10). We praise you for stirring the hearts of your people to seek justice and righteousness on behalf of the unborn, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let us pray. Almighty God, we ask you to comfort the family members and friends of the seven students that were shot and killed at a small Christian school, Oikos University in Oakland California. You promised that you would be “near to the brokenhearted” and that you would “rescue those whose spirits are crushed” (Psalm 34:18). Enable the family members and friends of the victims to experience your comforting presence in the midst of this horrible tragedy. And give them the grace to forgive the perpetrator of this demonic crime, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Our governing officials desperately need wisdom from you on how to rightly govern this nation. Let us pray. Almighty God, we are grieved that a school district in Texas has forbidden a third-grader from distributing handwritten invitations to his Bible club before class. You said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matt. 19:14). Reveal to the leaders of this school district that they are committing an atrocious crime in attempting to prevent these children from sharing their faith with their friends. Let these children not be hindered from coming to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Almighty God, we are grieved that atheist complainers recently held a rally at Fort Bragg to target their hopeless and godless message toward the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, many of whom are believers that depend on God’s support and protection daily. As our Christian brothers and sisters in the U.S. Armed Forces are attacked for their beliefs, we pray that you will empower them to “take up the shield of faith, with which [they] can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” (Eph. 6:16), in Jesus’ name, Amen.
