Don is the founding chairman of the Virginia Christian Alliance (founded in January 2009). In recent years, Don has been a founding board chairman of the Henrico Youth League and a founding board member of the Henrico Police Athletic League. 

Don was one of the founding members of the First Landing 1607.com Project. VCA was the umbrella organization for the project.
