AF Academy creates chapel for false religions

AF Academy creates chapel for false religions
May 11, 2011

Chad Groening – OneNewsNow

A former Navy chaplain who was forced out of service for praying in Jesus’ name while in uniform is outraged that the military is going out of its way to accommodate the spiritual needs of pagans and atheists, who complain there is “too much Jesus” at military academies.

A ceremony was recently held at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs to dedicate the Cadet Chapel Falcon Circle, a 7,200-foot hilltop that overlooks the main chapel. The center is geared toward earth-centered movements like Wicca, paganism, the New Age and Druids. (See earlier article)

Gordon Klingenschmitt, a former Navy chaplain who now runs “The Pray In Jesus Name Project,” is disappointed that the military is pandering to non-Christian groups.

“As an Air Force Academy graduate, I was very disappointed, especially since the Academy has been under attack for allowing ‘too much Jesus,'” Klingenschmitt laments. “Now it looks like they have to accommodate false religions.”

And he deems it absurd that atheists are now requesting to have their own military chaplains. “If the troops don’t have a religion, then they obviously don’t have religious needs,” the former chaplain contends. “There are already secular psychologists and doctors who provide non-religious counseling, so I don’t think that’s necessary.”

He suggests that establishment of the chapel for Earth-centered religions is part of a plot to reduce the number of evangelical chaplains in the military.
